Mcintosh XRT-22 Speaker

The XRT series high-end speaker system.

The enclosure consists of a base cabinet of two woofer and one squaker, and a tweeter column with 23 dome-shaped tweeters. It realizes a deep and wide sound that covers the entire sound field while maintaining strong directivity and sense of orientation.
In particular, the column produces a semi-cylindrical waveform (uniformed wave form) that is different from the conventional spherical waveform, and the energy loss of sound transmission to a distant listening position is much smaller than that of the conventional one. This makes it possible to reproduce sound from floor to ceiling with an overwhelming solidity, scale, and delicate texture.

The cone type unit is designed to prevent radiation from the center cap to the high range. In addition, the woofer unit is floated from the enclosure by a rubber pedestal. Cushioning material is also inserted between the mounting frame and the woofer unit to completely eliminate factors that cause vibration of the unit to be transmitted to the enclosure.
The skorker is also secured to the enclosure with eight screws.
As for sound absorbing materials, cotton, which has a high S/N ratio for audibility, is used for the woofer part, and glass wool is used for the squaker part.

The Woofer Enclosure is a high density particle board with an Oak (oak) finish for excellent rigidity.
The Tweeter Column Enclosure is made of pure oak or walnut and has excellent characteristics in all aspects such as solidness and influence on sound as well as rigidity.
In both cases, only the Saran face is adopted, and by making the wood surface stand out, it gives a sense of dignity and high quality.
